Overview of Jonesboro, Arkansas
Jonesboro is located in the lower Mississippi Valley Region
of the United States. It is the largest city in Northeast Arkansas, the
fourth largest city in the state, with a population of approximately 55,515. With
hardy farmland and the rolling hills of Crowley's Ridge surrounding it, Jonesboro
is the best of both worlds, combining the benefits of living in a large city
with the comfort of a small-town life. Jonesboro is 69 miles from Memphis,
133 miles from Little Rock, and 239 miles from St. Louis.
Jonesboro has something for everyone. Affordable
housing in great neighborhoods, close ties between local churches and their
surrounding communities, and the natural beauty of the area make it an ideal place
to make a home and raise a family.
Located at the edge of a major rice-growing area, some say that the
best duck hunting in the world is found in and around Jonesboro. In the warm months,
there are many lakes to enjoy fishing, boating and swimming, as well as over 20 city
parks, and golf and tennis clubs.
Jonesboro is very happy with its relationship with the business
community. Jonesboro's central location, dedicated workforce, the city's

Jonesboro has hosted many major concerts and stage shows that take place in the Convocation Center Arena that seats 10,500 people.
Jonesboro also has some spectacular annual events such as the Christmas Parade and the Lights on the Ridge, Jonesboro Main
Street Celebration, and the Northeast Arkansas District Fair and Rodeo.
The Fowler Center and The Forum host outstanding Broadway productions as well as concerts by The Northeast Arkansas Symphony.
The Arkansas State Univeristy main campus in located in the heart of Jonesboro, they offer degree programs through the doctoral level .
ASU also has campuses in Beebe, Mountain Home,
and Newport, where associate degree programs are offered; and at Heber Springs, Marked Tree and Searcy. Blytheville,
Forrest City, Paragould and West Memphis now have partnerships with Arkansas State University as well.
Jonesboro has 2 major hospitals, St. Bernards Regional Medical Center and Regional Medical Center of NEA along with many fine physicians and other medical facilities, including a large
number of specialists and specialized facilities.
Jonesboro has a vast assortment of retail stores representing all major categories of
merchandise at various price levels. Jonesboro is the regional shopping area for Northeast
Arkansas. Jonesboro has almost every product available in its retail offerings to make
living in the area comfortable and convenient.
