Jonesboro is located in the lower Mississippi Valley Region of the United States. It is the largest city in Northeast Arkansas, the fourth largest city in the state, with a population of approximately 55,515. With hardy farmland and the rolling hills of Crowley's Ridge surrounding it, Jonesboro is the best of both worlds, combining the benefits of living in a large city with the comfort of a small-town life. Jonesboro is 69 miles from Memphis, 133 miles from Little Rock, and 239 miles from St. Louis.

ASU also has campuses in Beebe, Mountain Home, and Newport, where associate degree programs are offered; and at Heber Springs, Marked Tree and Searcy. Blytheville, Forrest City, Paragould and West Memphis now have partnerships with Arkansas State University as well.

Jonesboro has 2 major hospitals, St. Bernards Regional Medical Center and Regional Medical Center of NEA along with many fine physicians and other medical facilities, including a large number of specialists and specialized facilities.
